What this tool does
Converts between JSON and XML in either direction. JSON arrays map to repeated XML elements, and XML elements map to JSON keys.
How to use it
- Paste the data to convert.
- Choose the direction: forward for JSON to XML, reverse for XML to JSON.
- Run it and compare the output with the source to confirm the structure carried over as intended.
Worked example
Converting [{"name":"Ada","value":42}] forward yields XML with name and value as child elements.
Frequently asked questions
- How are XML attributes handled?
- Both attributes and elements become keys in JSON, so a round trip may not restore the original shape exactly. Always compare if you need round-tripping.
- My numbers became strings.
- XML has no type system — every value is text. Whether numbers come back as numbers depends on the input shape.
