What this tool does
Converts between CSV and JSON. The first CSV row becomes the column names and each row becomes an object; in reverse, object keys become column names.
How to use it
- Paste the data.
- Choose the direction: forward for CSV to JSON, reverse for JSON to CSV.
- Run it and confirm the row count and column names.
Worked example
The two lines name, value and Ada,42 convert forward into a JSON array holding one object with name and value.
Frequently asked questions
- Do commas inside values break it?
- No. Quoted fields are treated as a single value including the comma, as in "Seoul, Korea".
- Leading zeros in postcodes disappear.
- They can be read as numbers on the way to JSON. Quote non-numeric identifiers in the CSV and check that they stay strings in the output.
What this tool does not cover
