What this tool does
Converts between CSV and XML. Column names from the first row become element names, and each row becomes one record element.
How to use it
- Paste the data.
- Choose the direction.
- Run it and check that the element names are valid.
Worked example
Converting name,value and Ada,42 to XML creates a record element with name and value children.
Frequently asked questions
- Can column names contain spaces or non-Latin characters?
- XML element names cannot contain spaces or begin with a digit. Normalising headers to letters and underscores first is safer.
- What about special characters?
- Characters such as < > & are escaped as XML entities. Check the output restores them when converting back.
What this tool does not cover
Input is processed in your browser. Namespaces and schemas are not handled.
