What this tool does

Redraws an image at the width and height you specify, with your choice of output format and quality.

How to use it

  1. Choose the image file.
  2. Enter the target width and height in pixels.
  3. Pick the output format and quality.
  4. Run it and check the resulting dimensions.

Worked example

A 1600×1200 image with a target of 1200×800 returns a 1200×800 image. If that differs from the source ratio, the picture stretches or squashes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep the aspect ratio?
Work it out yourself: 1600×1200 is 4:3, so a width of 1200 pairs with a height of 900. The tool does not lock the ratio for you.
Does enlarging a small image sharpen it?
No. It cannot invent detail, so the result looks soft. If you need a larger image, obtain a higher-resolution original.

What this tool does not cover

Files are processed in your browser. Animations become still images, and it does not crop.
