What this tool does

Computes a project quote from per-task effort and rates. Line totals, subtotal, tax, and the quoted total are laid out in a printable form.

How to use it

  1. Enter client name, project name, and how long the quote stays valid.
  2. For each task, enter quantity (effort) and unit price.
  3. Enter the tax rate, and add expenses as extra line items if needed.
  4. Create the client-facing document with Print / Save PDF.

Worked example

Two units of a 15,000 task give 30,000, and a 10% rate brings the quoted total to 33,000.

Frequently asked questions

Must effort be entered in hours?
Any unit works — hours, days, or lump sums — as long as quantity and unit price use the same basis. Noting the unit in the item name is safer.
Does the quote become the contract amount?
No. Scope changes, extra work, and payment terms are settled in the contract. This tool only adds up amounts.

What this tool does not cover

Payment schedules, milestones, discount rates, and contingency percentages are not computed. Add what you need as explicit lines.
